Our Approach

Project Based Learning

We believe that education should prepare our youth to lead within their chosen career fields. Preparation for college and career begins at birth and children who think critically and communicate effectively have the greatest chance of achieving post-secondary success. Our program fully engages students in the learning process and empowers them to take ownership of their learning. We encourage children to question the world around them, and to research to find their own answers. Students in a classroom utilizing the Sankofa Excellence model are active participants and not just receivers of information. Through the use of "community-centered" Project Based Learning, we help our students connect what they learn inside the classroom to the "real-world" in a manner that is relevant and meaningful.
